Extended service in Drumshanbo with ‘My Open Library’

Works are almost complete on the ‘My Open Library’ service at Drumshanbo Library.

The service will offer extended opening hours by providing library access to My Open Library members, on a self-service basis, outside normal opening hours from 8am to 10pm, seven days a week.

Staffed hours will continue on the normal schedule. You must be 16 or over to register for this service. Under 16's can access only with a parent or guardian.

Registration for this new service will take place during staffed hours, so that full details of the service and an induction can be provided by library staff in advance of My Open Library usage.

The induction will go through use of the self-service facilities available during Open Library hours and will demonstrate the health and safety procedures in place.

The library is monitored by CCTV cameras at all times during My Open Library mode and members can access Wi-Fi and avail of self-service printing and photocopying, borrowing and returning items and using the Internet. Members can also avail of reading/study space and collect reserved items.

This is a very exciting development for Leitrim Library Service. It will be the first ‘Open Library’ in county Leitrim.

The value of this new service is that it extends the availability of library services to members at times that suit them best, providing greater flexibility and convenience through increased opening hours in addition to the invaluable staffed hours.

The service will be operational later this Summer.
