Joe Mooney Summer School is back in Drumshanbo this month

The 33rd Joe Mooney Summer School of traditional music, song and dance takes place in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, from 15 to 22 July 2023.

It is a week-long festival of traditional Irish music, song and dance named after the man who promoted all aspects of Irish culture in Leitrim during his lifetime.

Joe Mooney Summer School has grown in number and popularity since 1989, providing class tuition in traditional instruments. For this year, the festival classes includes: Accompaniment (Piano/Guitar), Accordion, Bodhrán, Banjo, Bouzouki, Button Accordion, Concertina, Flute, Fiddle, Harp, Mandolin, Set Dancing, Sean-nós Singing, Sean-nós Dancing, Traditional, Uilleann Pipes and Whistle.

The Summer School tutors include internationally famous musicians, such as Joe Burke, Noel Hill, Seán Ryan and Michael Tubridy.
