An event to recognise the hard work put in by volunteers and the local authority in securing the title of Ireland's Best Kept Town for Carrick-on-Shannon is set to take place next week.

Tidy Towns members along with Council workers and elected members as well as members of Carrick-on-Shannon Chamber of Commerce are invited to the event which will take place on Tuesday, July 18 at 7pm in the council chamber

Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire stressed that the title was for the best kept town in Ireland; "north, south, east and west - best town of every size" and said there was "huge co-operation" between the Council and volunteers.

Cllr Sean McGowan also welcomed the event saying that Tidy Towns and the local authority do “enormous work".
