Keenaghan Road to be improved

40 poplar trees to be removed

Around 40 large, poplar trees are to be removed for safety reasons near Tesco roundabout, Leitrim County Council District Engineer, Darragh O'Boyle told a meeting this week. The works are to take place around October and the semi-mature trees are to be replaced with the Council liaising with Tidy Towns and the Chamber of Commerce on the project.

 

Parks to be officially named

The People's Park and the Linear Park are to have their names “galvanised” while the MBNA park is to be renamed, a recent Carrick Municipal District meeting heard.


Increased funding for roads in Carrick MD

Increased funding of €140,000 was announced for extending the existing Restoration Improvement Grants (RIG) in the Carrick Municipal District, Leitrim County Council District Engineer, Darragh O'Boyle advised members recently. 

"Instead of all the money going to Mohill, I want a section coming to Carrick and I'm proposing to do Keenaghan Road, the rugby club road, in Carrick."

The members accepted this proposal. 

 

Home International Rowing Championship coming to Lough Rinn

The 55th edition of the Home International Rowing Regatta will be hosted by Ireland and held at Lough Rinn, Co. Leitrim on Saturday, 22nd July 2023.

The Regatta provides rowers an opportunity to compete for their country and welcomes rowers from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. 
Cllr Armstrong-McGuire said it was a “wonderful achievement to be brought into the county” and noted that a number of Carrick women have competed in international rowing competitions down through the years.
