An example of a holy well
Cllr Thomas Mulligan asked, as part of a programme of works on bridge restoration, if it would be possible that the name of a local bridge be incorporated into it's stonework.
He said the bridge is on the Tamlaghtmore/Treanmore road and acts as the boundary between the two townlands.
He was advised that, after discussions with the road design office, the Road Management Office (RMO) will not provide funding for this feature as bridges are currently classified and named on the RMO system.
Cllr Mulligan continued that in the 1800s, the bridge was called 'Barry's' and asked if this name could be incorporated into the stonework. He also asked if some work could be carried out on the holy well beside the bridge.
Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire supported the motion.
Leitrim County Council District Engineer, Darragh O'Boyle said the works could be carried out through the local roads funding.
