Arigna Mining Experience Nominated for Ireland’s Trade and Travel Network’s 2023 Awards

Arigna Mining Experience Nominated for Ireland’s Trade and Travel Network’s 2023 Awards

Arigna Mining Experience Co Roscommon has been selected as a contender in the category of ‘Best Family Experience’ at the prestigious Ireland’s Trade and Travel Network (ITTN) annual awards. The ITTN awards take place every year and are seen as the ‘Oscars’ of the industry.

The popular community-run tourist attraction and coal mining museum is hoping to cap off celebrating its twenty year anniversary this year by winning the award. The ITTN group’s travel2ireland platform, which specializes in all travel news about the Island of Ireland, will close the voting for the awards on July 31.

Arigna Mining Experience, nestled in the dynamic landscape of Lough Allen and the surrounding Kilronan and Corry Mountains, offers tours into what was Ireland’s last working coal mine. Guests are taken underground by tour guides who are all local former miners themselves, lending an emotive authenticity to the experience that is unique and hard to come by.

“The first hand experience the tour guides share with visitors, of having worked in these mines when they were still operational, is really the essence of the experience,” says manager Valerie Stenson.

The attraction also hosts a café and gift shop, and is located along the Miner’s Way and Historical Trail, ensuring that there is plenty to do for families coming to visit.

The ITTN 2023 travel2ireland Awards Ceremony will be hosted at the five-star Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin in October. Hopefully, Arigna Mining Experience will be amongst the winners.
