Engineer can’t find “one pothole or road damage”

Engineer can’t find “one pothole or road damage”

Cllr Paddy Farrell raised the matter

Cllr Paddy Farrell asked District Engineer, Darragh O’Boyle, to look for funding to repair damaged roads and footpaths in the Breffni Crescent area of Carrick-on-Shannon.
The Fianna Fail councillor was advised that the Council have carried out a survey of the road in Breffni Crescent and cannot find one pothole or road damage.
“If the location of the road damage can be identified, we can dispatch the maintenance crew to the location,” Mr O'Boyle said.
Cllr Farrell was further informed that “there is no funding for restoration of existing footpaths in the current budget, however, if there is a footpath that is causing a hazard, we can react.”

Cllr Sean McGowan said the footpaths are a “real issue” at Breffini Crescent and said the reply “wasn't very positive.”
Mr O'Boyle said he walked the road and there “wasn't one pothole” and said he would meet Cllr Farrell at the location to investigate further.
Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire pointed out that “if there are footpaths anywhere that need repair” then Active Travel funding is available for such projects.
