Backstage Theatre Longford is set to host new shows as part of their Autumn programme starting on September 29, with the legendary Rob Strong performing live.

After the fantastic feedback from his performance last September, Rob will bring his band back to the Backstage Theatre stage, promising a night of excitement with Irish music.

After selling out recent shows in Dublin (Arthur's Blues n' Jazz Club), The Hot Spot Music Club in Greystones, and The Royal Meath in Navan, the Derry native – known as 'The Godfather of Soul' – is celebrating an impressive 60 years on the road this year and as the title of his biography suggests, is 'Still Going Strong'.

On October 1, Backstage Theatre Longford will host an evening of spoken word and live music as part of the Poetry Ireland tour.

'Ireland Is' will shine a light on today's multifaceted and contradictory Ireland.

The evening will feature a line-up of acclaimed poets, including Longford's own Felispeaks, Colm Keegan, Hollie McNish, Danez Smith, and Erin Fornoff, as well as a special guest performance by singer-songwriter Bridie Monds-Watson alias SOAK.

The event forms part of Poetry Ireland's 'Ireland Is' spoken word tour, which brings Keegan, Felispeaks, McNish, Smith and Fornoff together with musicians in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Galway and Longford this Autumn.

Mossy's back by popular demand at the Backstage Theatre on October 4 at 8pm.

The play has a knack of going a long way around a story. He makes the audience laugh and examine themselves in a way they haven't done before. He might be an unsociable oddball with a big, thick head, but his wrestling every day is pure gold.

He will always land on his feet (or at least somewhere near his feet) because he is Mossy Flood, and he is from Longford.

The Ballad of Mossy Flood is Seamus O'Rourke at his very best. Tickets are selling fast, so do not miss out.

Tickets for Rob Strong, 'Ireland Is', and The Ballad of Mossy Flood are available on 0433347888 or backstage.ie.
