Flooding coming within feet of residents' doors

Flooding coming within feet of residents' doors

Cllr Padraig Fallon

Cllr Padraig Fallon proposed that storm drains in Sheena, Drumkeeran be examined, maintained, cleared and cleaned.
"There appears to be an issue with two in particular which are putting a number of homes at risk," he said, at the monthly meeting of Manorhamilton municipal district.

The official response said that the drainage network in Sheena will be inspected and cleared of any blockages."

Speaking to the Leitrim Observer, he said it was a recurring issue. "I was on to the local authority two years ago and storm drains were cleared but the issue has reocurred."

He continued, "The flooding is of particular concern to three households and I've seen it myself as I live quite close and an eye needs to be kept on this issue. It's very worrying for people when they see the water coming to their door and it has come quite close to them; within a number of feet of them."
