World Champion Shane McGourty with his Irish Dancing coach Karl McCartin
Shane McGourty, Mohill, Co. Leitrim was recently crowned World Irish Dancing Champion when he won the senior men’s competition at the CRN World Open Championship in the INEC, Killarney, Co. Kerry.
Shane, who dances for the McCartin School of Irish Dancing, is no stranger to success on the Irish dancing circuit. Competing against dancers from across the world, Shane secured the World title after four days of fierce competition.
To win a World Title takes hard work and dedication, the training that goes into it is not for the faint hearted!
Balancing a degree in the National University of Ireland, Maynooth along with daily training and attending classes, Shane took the top spot this year much to the delight of his family, dance school, teacher and friends.
Well done to Shane and Karl!
