Cllr Enda McGloin said at the latest meeting of Ballinamore municipal district that there needs to be funds available to restore footpaths.
He called on the district to write to the Department of Transport requesting them to provide a "properly funded budget for the refurbishment of some local footpaths, currently there seems to be no source of funding to repair dangerous sections of our footpath network in the county."
Cllr McGloin noted, "I know we can all identify with footpaths in various towns across the municipal district that are in need of rehabilitation."
He added, "There isn't a fund that we can say that there are X amount of kilometres across the county the Department of Transport will fund to bring these footpaths back to life."
He said he knew of a concrete footpath that "disintegrated" after being salted over a period of time during the winter months. "It's a trip hazard and it's poor."
