'Fairy Haunts of Ireland', a new book by Leitrim-based Australian author Alanna Moore, is set to be launched this Thursday, November 23, from 11am to 1pm, at the market yard at Carrick-on-Shannon.
The book aims to help people experience Ireland's 'fairyland' and is a guide to magical, uplifting, and supernatural sites. Its purpose is to help readers access the ancient spiritual heritage of Ireland and participate in her Otherworld continuum.
What is the nature of the other-dimensional world of fairyland? Since ancient times, seers have described the parallel world of nature, spirits and deities. Peeling away the biassed accounts of mediaeval monks, one finds archaic fragments of the mythos of the Other, also in children's stories.
Alanna Moore's latest book 'The Fairy Haunts of Ireland' includes some of the author's experiences, such as at the source of the Shannon River; seven years of observing and interacting with a group of fairies in Leitrim; journeying with Cow goddess Boinn in Meath and dancing with the Daghda in Sligo.
Alanna is a professional geomancer, divining the subtle energies and spirits of place, with over 40 years of experience of the Other. This is her tenth book.
Signed copies of 'Fairy Hunts of Ireland' will be available at a discounted price at the launching event.
