Leaves and branches need to be removed so people can walk safely at night

Cllr Felim Gurn

With the winter season upon us, Cllr Felim Gurn asked that leaves and branches be "removed swiftly from the main streets in our towns and villages so people can walk safely on our streets at night. I ask that this be extended to the demonstration stretches of our greenways in Dromahair, Manorhamilton and Glenfarne over the winter months."

He said that he had walked the town recently at night and that the "leaves are very dangerous and they are causing a huge problem on the footpaths."
A report by the Roads office said that street cleaning in North Leitrim has commenced in the towns and villages and will continue as and when required. Extending this cleaning to the greenways will be assessed for feasibility.
