The Minister for Community and Rural Development, Heather Humphreys TD has announced €241,706 for 5 Clár projects under a sporting heading for Co Leitrim GAA Clubs.
Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan has warmly welcomed funding for Allen Gaels, Ballinaglera, Carrigallen, Fenagh and Kiltubrid GAA Clubs.
The funding centres around the club’s development of walkways, improved safety and disability access and alterations to spectator stands and car parking facilities.
Deputy Feighan congratulated the clubs and the time they put into making these good applications which will provide greater and safer access for all to their respective grounds alongside the provision of walking facilities for many others outside playing members which he believes will improve mental health and wellbeing.
“I want to pay tribute once again to Minister Humphreys who has the vision to widen the scope of the Clar funding scheme to be able to assist these really good projects and allows so many more to benefit from community GAA facilities across rural Ireland,” declared Deputy Feighan.
The full list of successful applicants is:
Allen Gaels GAA: Improved and safer access to the Club grounds - €48,850
Kiltubrid GAA: Provide set down & access to parking and viewing area with walking track included - €35,595
Ballinaglera GAA: Construction of a walking trail around the grounds and alteration of the stand - €38,364
Fenagh GAA: Provision of a walkway €50,000
Carrigallen GAA: Improving the existing carpark, installing disability spaces and improving disability access - €41,897
