TFI Local Link Donegal Sligo Leitrim is enhancing the 572 bus service from Ballinamore to Sligo via Drumshanbo starting today.
This development is a significant stride in bolstering regional connectivity, contributing to the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, a transformative initiative championed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network.
Under the enhancement plan, Route 572 will substantially increase its daily return services, operating up to six times Monday through Saturday, with an added evening service on Fridays and Saturdays.
Additionally, three daily return services will be available on Sundays. This expanded schedule offers enhanced connectivity to key villages and areas, including Keadue, Ballyfarnon, Geevagh, Riverstown, and Ballygawley.
The upgrade mainly caters to the needs of students in the region, ensuring improved connectivity and accessibility to educational institutions.
Adam Ó Ceallaigh, Green Party representative for Ballinamore, expressed his enthusiasm for this enhancement's positive impact on the student community: "The enhanced 572 service marks a vital step in fostering the growth and development of our region.
"Students, in particular, stand to benefit greatly from this improved connection. The additional services, especially the extended evening options, will not only facilitate seamless access to educational hubs but also allow students to take part in the social side of college.
"This aligns with our commitment to creating sustainable and accessible transportation solutions that positively impact the lives of our youth and the community as a whole," he said.
This enhancement ensures that the route maintains its commitment to serving commuters with peak-time and evening services, meeting the diverse transportation needs of the community.
The upgraded services aim to provide a reliable and efficient mode of transportation, supporting the economic and social development of the region.
