No development at former factory in Corriscoffey yet

Cllr Thomas Mulligan

"It was great to see a tidy up done because it certainly was unsightly," said Cllr Thomas Mulligan at the latest Carrick-on-Shannon municipal district meeting where he asked if there had been a planning application with regard to works at the former factory in the townland of Corriscoffey, Annaduff.
A report by the Economic Development section said there has been no recent planning application lodged in respect of the former rendering plant at Corriscoffey.
The response continued that the planning authority was recently informed of works being undertaken at the property and an inspection has been undertaken which revealed that the works consisted of a general cleaning up of the property and the securing of the property against trespass, including re-hanging of gates and did not require planning permission.
The planning authority has also had discussions with the owner of the property and advised that any works associated with the refurbishment and/or bringing the property into use would first require a grant of planning permission.

Cllr Mulligan said that in "the longer term, we would very much hope that something further would happen on that site and a planning application would be very welcome; that we could consider and see if that building could be either knocked and replaced with something else. It's still unsightly despite the tidy up."
Cllr Sean McGowan supported the motion.
