Crime Victims Helpline to operate service offer Christmas holiday season

The National Crime Victims Helpline (CVH) will operate throughout the 2023 festive season to provide information and support to those impacted by crime in Leitrim and across the country.

The service will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, December 24-25 and will be open from 2:00 to 4:00 pm from December 26 to January 1, returning to normal from Tuesday 2nd.

Michele Puckhaber, Chief Executive, said: “Demand for our services are increasing every year, and while Christmas is a happy time for many, it can also be a time where people impacted by crime can feel overwhelmed or alone. We are delighted that our experienced team and volunteers will be on hand throughout the festive season to offer support and information to those impacted by crime.”

The helpline team can be contacted on freephone 116 006, by texting 085 133 7711, by emailing info@crimevictimshelpline.ie, or by webchat at www.crimevictimshelpline.ie.

Calls can also be made outside of opening hours, and a member of the experienced team will then return all messages received when the Helpline reopens.

Founded in 2005, the CVH is a registered charitable organisation funded by the Department of Justice.

The Helpline provides support and information over a free-to-call Helpline and can also be contacted over email, text and web chat.

CrimeVictimsHelpline.ie provides extensive information about coping with different types of crime, such as cyber-crime, assault, and harassment.

It also provides information about the criminal justice system and victims’ rights and has a searchable database of victim support services in Ireland.
