A new planning application is being lodged with Leitrim County Council for a major development of Lough Rynn Castle Estate and Gardens outside Mohill, Co Leitrim.

A planning notice in this week's Leitrim Observer, states that Waxville Investments Limited intends to apply for permission for the development at the hotel at Rinn, Mohill, Co Leitrim.

The development will consist of the construction of three extensions at the existing hotel to provide 51 additional guest bedrooms (increasing the total accommodation to 95 guest bedrooms), a restaurant, leisure centre, spa and treatment rooms.

The application is for:

1. A single storey extension (436.82 sq m floor area) to the conference centre to provide a restaurant, kitchen and glazed walkway.

2. A part single storey and part two storey over basement extension (4,035.45 sq m floor area) within the former walled enclosure to provide 28 bedrooms, leisure centre, swimming pool, gym, spa, treatment rooms, changing areas, reception, lobby, library and bar with glazed walkway to the stables courtyard. The extension incorporates part of the partially completed basement and the refurbished machinery shed.

3. A singe storey extension (723.87 sq m floor area) to the refurbished southern and northern ranges of the former farmyard to provide 23 bedrooms with glazed walkway to the eastern range.

The proposed development also consists of the removal of approximately 39 metres of stone walls to provide for the entrance to the leisure centre, new vehicular entrance to the former farmyard, new entrances at the new restaurant, and new opening in the south wall of the former walled enclosure, hard and soft landscaping, upgrade of the on-site wastewater treatment system, 18 disabled parking spaces, cycle parking, site services and all ancillary and associated works on a c.3.37 hectares site.
