82 jobs created in Leitrim with Local Enterprise Offices support in 2023

Local Enterprise Offices network supported 155 companies in Leitrim, creating 82 new jobs in 2023.

In Ireland, 6,640 jobs were created, and the Local Enterprise Offices network supported over 38,700 jobs from over 7,000 businesses in 2023.

Last year was the tenth consecutive year of job growth with LEOs supporting companies.

Deputy Frank Feighan said that the network plays a vital role in supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in the country by providing expert advice, mentorship, and financial support.

“From supporting businesses to move online through the Trading Online Voucher Scheme to helping businesses ‘go green’ with the Green for Business Scheme and the new Energy Efficiency Grant, LEO support can make a huge difference to our small businesses,” he said.

Established in 2014 by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, the 31 Local Enterprise Offices nationwide are operated in a partnership between Enterprise Ireland and the Local Authorities. It is now a significant source of job creation and a hub of entrepreneurship across the country.

“In Budget 2024, an additional €9 million in funding was secured to ensure that LEOs can continue to support our entrepreneurs across Leitrim,” Deputy Feighan added.

Minister Neale Richmond, announcing the job growth, said: “With 82% of new jobs created outside of Dublin, it is clear that our LEOs are supporting businesses right across Ireland.

“What is also evident is the resilience of Ireland’s fantastic small businesses that have continued to adapt to an ever-changing business environment.

“Fine Gael is backing business, and with Deputy Frank Feighan, we will continue to deliver for businesses and create good quality jobs for Leitrim.”
