Clean up underway in Leitrim following Storm Isha

Storm Isha has passed and the high winds that swept across the country have affected Co Leitrim with a number of roads blocked by fallen trees, debris on the rods and power outages in several areas of the county.

Leitrim County Council said it is responding to, and dealing with multiple instances of fallen or dangerous trees and impassable roads.

Members of the public should report incidents of fallen trees on the road network, directly to the Emergency Services by calling 112 or 999, who will then despatch Council staff to deal with the situation.

Meanwhile, ESB Networks is reporting a number of faults and outages in Co Leitrim with power still gone in several areas.

Leitrim Village lost power at 6.30pm on Sunday evening and it has still not been restored this morning.

Faults are reported between Carrick-on-Shannon and Leitrim Village, and in the Drumshanbo, Arigna, Kiltubrid, Drumkeerin, Glenfarne, Manorhamilton and Kinlough areas.

ESB Networks storm response plans are in effect since and crews have mobilised since first light to assess the damage, making the network safe and restoring electricity supply where safe to do so.
