Cllr Caillian Ellis
Cllr Caillian Ellis proposed that Ballinamore Municipal District extend the public lighting out as far as the R201 at Dillon’s Cross near Cloone.
A report by the Roads office said there is no funding in the Roadworks Programme for extensions to public lighting “and in any event, it would not be our policy to provide public lighting outside the speed limits.”
He was speaking at the municipal district meeting held on Monday.
Cllr Ellis argued that “it is a public pathway” saying that he understood the road was “four lights short.”
Darragh O'Boyle, District Engineer repeated that once the road goes beyond the speed limit, “I don't know where I'd get funding for it.”
