"Traffic is forced to swing on to the wrong side of the road in order to avoid the large potholes" - Dolan

"It's throwing good money after bad," said Cllr Frank Dolan at the latest Manorhamilton municipal district meeting where he said there is an ongoing problem on the R278 at the corner of Lough Doon where the road is continuously being eaten away by surface water.
As a result, traffic is forced to swing on to the wrong side of the road in order to avoid the large potholes adding that "this be properly addressed."
A report by the Roads office said the issue will be investigated for remediation works and will be reinstated in 2024 if funds allow.

Cllr Dolan said that motorists are "swinging out to avoid the bad condition of the short piece of road there and it could very easily lead to a major accident and cost-wise, it's nothing major. I'm getting numerous complaints about it."

Eric Gilroy, engineer at Leitrim County Council said that the council would "try and get a more substantial job done on it this year."
