No "chance" of emergency vehicles getting through bottom of Dromahair town

Bigger vehicles are continually complaining that they can't get through

Dolan said there "wasn't a chance of a vehicle getting through with cars parked up on both sides of the road"

Cllr Frank Dolan asked that Leitrim County Council examine the possibility of providing some car parking spaces near the supermarket at the bottom of Dromahair town.

He said the area "is extremely congested on a daily basis and is a nightmare for any through traffic to navigate."

A report by the Roads office to the Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting this week said the provision of additional car parking spaces will be subject to land acquisition and funding availability, currently there is no funding stream for procurement of additional parking facilities at this location.

Cllr Dolan said that if there was an emergency at the location, "emergency traffic would not get through" and "cattle lorries and bigger vehicles are continually complaining that they can't get through."

Cllr Dolan said the issue should be "kept on the radar because it is a serious situation."

He said he recently attended a funeral and there "wasn't a chance of a vehicle getting through with cars parked up on both sides of the road and there's nothing to stop them."

The motion was supported by all members.
