On International Women’s Day Sligo Traveller Support Group (STSG) are inviting the public to support their Coffee Morning which takes place from 11am-1pm on Friday March 8.

The event takes place at the STSG office which is located in the Cranmore area (F91Y59C) and everyone is more than welcome to come along on the day. International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. IWD is about trying to help create a  world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination, and one which is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

Cliona Ward from Sligo Traveller Support Group said “We are delighted to be able to host the coffee morning and would encourage as many people as possible to support it. Women in our society today continue to face inequality in our daily lives and as a Traveller woman the exclusion and marginalisation we face can be particularly difficult. We are hoping to see as many people as possible from different communities on Friday March 8th.
