A modern Irish male folk group, Onóir sings harmony-focused songs and musical arrangements. The band takes the Landmark Hotel stage on April 6.
Formed in August of 2020, when four individual Donegal-based musicians - Tom McHugh, Declan Gaughan, Deane Connaghan, and Diarmaid McGee - joined forces to create a contemporary version of the famous Irish folk ballad “The Auld Triangle”, the music video that went viral seen by over 3 million people worldwide.
Onóir is currently touring its theatre show across Ireland, the UK, and abroad and recording its debut album, which is scheduled for launch in the autumn of this year.
Their journey began out of sheer boredom during the Covid-19 pandemic, on the verge of lockdown, and we were fed up. They decided to get together to make a music video, and things sort of took off from there.
Onóir also launched The Parting Glass, a music video filmed at night in an abandoned castle near Pettigo, County Donegal. Their first official gig was in a local intimate theatre called The Balot in Ballybofey.
