A new community-led childcare program has been launched to ensure families in Ballintogher, Sligo, have access to a safe, educational, and enriching environment with a focus on outdoor play for the children in the community.

Led by a passionate team of local community members, Ballintogher Community Childcare CLG aims to provide a sustainable and affordable childcare service with a developmentally appropriate child-centred curriculum.

The preschool's current owners are retiring in June, and thirteen community members have come together to help save the service.

Ballintogher Community Childcare CLG will open its doors in August 2024, in line with the Academic Year. It will occupy the familiar setting previously known as Farmyard Ballintogher.

The facility plans to offer a comprehensive range of services, including Breakfast Club, ECCE, Afterschool, and Easter/Summer Camps.

At the announcement, Directors Paul, Eileen, and Lisa commented, "We are thrilled to introduce Ballintogher Childcare Community CLG to the community,". "Our goal is to create a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive while exploring the outdoors."
