David Munnelly and Mick Conneely with Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin concert

David Munnelly (accordion) and Mick Conneely (fiddle), joined by special guest singer Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin, will perform at Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen, Sligo, on Saturday, April 27, at 8pm.

Mick Conneely is one of the most respected fiddle players of his generation. He has played and toured with many artists, including De Danann, Mary Bergin, Frankie Gavin, and Mairtin O’Connor, among others.

In 2001, his debut solo album, Selkie, was released with critical acclaim on the Clo iar-Chonnacht label.

David Munnelly was born into a musical family and was surrounded by music from a very early age. He set up the David Munnelly Band in 1999, and in that same year he recorded his debut CD, entitled Swing. He recorded three other CDs with the band and has toured extensively.

Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin, a native Irish speaker, first heard keening, Caoine, when her late granny Máire mourned the death of her old friend and that even as a child, ‘the hairs stood up on the back of my neck.’

Born into a musical family in Connemara, Caitriona, winner of numerous song competitions, has sang all over the world from America, Europe and her beloved homeland.
