All homeowners should pay maintenance fees in estates

Councillors said fee the fee should be “added to the tenant's rent.”

Cllr Paddy Farrell called on Leitrim County Council to explain why they are not paying maintenance fees for houses they own in estates, saying it is “very unfair on other home owners to carry this cost.”
He added, “I know in one estate, they are due money the last two or three years and I think it's very unfair that some people in an estate have to carry the rest.”
A report stated the council pays contributions towards the maintenance fees in private estates where properties have been acquired by the Council towards the costs associated with maintaining the public spaces.
They will contact the individual Residents Associations in order to process any outstanding payments.
Cllr Enda Stenson supported the motion with Cllr Finola Armstrong McGuire saying that the fee should be “added to the tenant's rent.”
