Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire sought an update on the progress of the new St Patrick's Community Hospital in Carrick-on-Shannon at a meeting of the HSE's Regional Health Forum today, Tuesday.

A reply to the Leitrim councillor by Joe Hoare, Assistant National Director, HSE Capital & Estates, said, "Tenders have now been received from contractors for the proposed 90 bed Community Nursing Unit at Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

"The evaluation process will be completed over the coming weeks and approval will then be sought for the award of a public works contract for the project.

"It is anticipated that works would start on site towards the end of this year. The building works are then likely to take 24 months to complete."
