Leitrim County Council officials to meet with residents
Cllr Mary Bohan asked that Leitrim County Council meet with the residents of Castlecourt Estate in Dromahair again to discuss the taking in charge of the estate.
A report by the Planning department to the Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting said this matter has been the subject of numerous communications between the Council, residents in the development and various elected officials.
The response continued that as has previously been advised, the common area in the development is simply a communal parking area and does not constitute a road of general public utility.
The response continued that in late 2013 the developer requested that the Council take the development in charge, however the council refused this request due to the common area being a shared surface communal car park and not a road.
Following this, the developer sought, and obtained, permission to undertake works to separate the car parking area and also provide a delineated road line that would enable the council to take the estate in charge.
When, however, the developer commenced these works, various residents within the development objected to and obstructed the works. Following attempts to resolve the matter the council decided to accede to the wishes of the residents that the area remain a communal parking area.
The response concluded that the common area does not contain a road of general public utility being a communal shared surface and car parking area and, consequently, will not be considered for taking in charge.
Cllr Bohan said that the council "should pass a resolution here today that officials should meet with the residents and that meeting should go ahead."
Cllr Felm Gurn seconded this proposal.
