The Sligo Rovers DS Futsal team got a fantastic reception on Friday, June 28 at the Showgrounds when the team were guests of the club at the game against Shamrock Rovers.
This was in recognition of their setting up and performances at a recent blitz. The players were introduced at half time to the crowd and prior to that enjoyed some refreshments in the Clubhouse where they met Rovers Chairperson Tommy Higgins, Rovers legends Eoin Doyle and Danny Ventre and Benny The Bull.
The team was established as part of the clubs series of Football Social Responsibility (FSR) programmes.
Sligo Rovers FSR officer Jamie Murphy said: “It was a fantastic evening for everyone involved with the DS team. The club as a whole on what was an emotional night. The players have demonstrated huge commitment and effort since the setting up of the team and its fantastic that this was recognised last night by all the supporters.
"All of the players have represented the club with such distinction and the support from the players families and club volunteers has been brilliant.”
