An Irish language primary school in Leitrim is seeking planning permission for a new school building on a site in Manorhamilton.
The Board of Management of Gaelscoil Chluainín has submitted an application to Leitrim County Council for the development of the site on Creamery Road.
If granted, the development will consist of a new 1,419.70m² two-storey school building comprising five classrooms, a GP hall, a special educational needs classroom, support teaching spaces, a staff room, and all ancillary accommodation.
It will also include all external facilities including new pedestrian and vehicle entrances, access road with set-down areas, a new pedestrian crossing on Creamery Road, car park, hard and soft play areas, cycle storage, bin storage compound, service compound, electricity substation, landscaping, site signage, public lighting and all boundary treatments.
Gaelscoil Chluainín currently operates from Castle Street in a residential area.
A decision on the planning application is expected on September 4, 2024.
