'Who would be so cruel' - Theft of newborn foal in Leitrim enrages animal lovers

The theft of a six week old foal in Co Leitrim has enraged animal lovers in the county and beyond.

According to My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR), the  young foal was stolen yesterday morning (July 15) in the Bornacoola/Dromod/Mohill area.

In a post published online, an MLHR representative stated, "Only six weeks old is too young to be away from mare. If anyone sees or hears anything, call."

The post has amassed thousands of shares and hundreds of comments, with one commenter stating, "This is awful. Who would be so cruel to do this? I pray this beautiful foal is reunited with his mum."

Another commented, "Totally heartbreaking, it is either one extreme or the other. They are dumping these beautiful babies or they are stealing them. Disgusting, vile, sick people. My heart breaks, she must be beside herself as is the mama."

Another person commented, "Just sickening. The trauma on the poor baby foal being taken from mum so cruelly. I really hope for a happy outcome and a safe return. Humanity just seems to be stooping lower."

Anybody who has information on the stolen foal is urged to contact 086 326 7390.
