Sarah Ruane from the National Lottery with Lana Rynne, Kevin McGowan, Martina McGowan, Noel McGowan and Sean McGloin
Kinlough was buzzing with excitement this weekend after McGowan’s Spar sold another winning lottery ticket.
This marks the eighth top tier for McGowan’s Spar, earning it a reputation as a lucky shop.
The winning ticket, from the Euromillions draw, is valued €1,005,000. The winner is yet to come forward.
In 2016, the shop sold a Euromillions ticket worth over €11 million. Owner Noel McGowan credits this streak of luck to the positive atmosphere within the store.
“You sometimes make your own luck. I have a wonderful group of 20 plus staff and they come into work every week with a smile on their face.
“I suppose when you create an atmosphere in a store, it also brings luck,” Mr McGowan said.
“It’s really unbelievable to have sold another winner and that there’s another millionaire in the village hopefully.”
With a proven track record of big wins and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, more fortune may be just around the corner for the shop with the golden touch.
