Tributes pour in following the passing of retired Garda John Kennedy
Tributes have poured in following the death of John (Sean) Kennedy of Coolcholly, Donegal Road, Ballyshannon, Donegal and formally of Rantogue, Aghacashel, Leitrim. John was a retired member of An Garda Síochána.
John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Northwest Hospice.
His RIP.IE notice reads: "John will be sadly missed by his wife Peggy, Children John (Ita), Orla (Matthew), Anne (Noel), Paul (Thomas) and Mary (Colm), grandchildren, Bronagh, Conal, Aoife, Aine, Orlaith, Brigid and Darragh, sister-in-law Kitty, brothers-in-law Maute and Frank, and all his relatives and friends."
Another wrote: "Dear Anne and Family, sincere condolences on the loss of your very special loved one. May your Dad rest peacefully. Thinking of you at this difficult time."
One person wrote: "A true gentleman always loved all the wee chats when he was out enjoying his walks. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. May you all find comfort in these sad lonely days with happy memories of past times shared."
John will be reposing at McGee's Funeral Home on Belleek Road, Ballyshannon on Thursday from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. Removal took place on Friday morning from his residence at 10.30am to arrive at St. Patrick's Church, Ballyshannon for Mass of the Resurrection at 11 o'clock, with service of Interment in the Abbey Assaroe Cemetery.
The family have asked for family flowers only, and donations to be made in lieu of John to the Alzheimers Society.
