Several fixed fines issued to Leitrim drivers using disabled parking without permits
Leitrim Gardaí issued several fixed charge penalty notices to drivers who parked their vehicles in disabled parking bay without displaying a disabled parking permit.
Operation Enable Leitrim Gardaí patrolled all the towns in County Leitrim this week checking for the blue badge in vehicles in hopes of increasing awareness to motorists that it is an offence under the Road Traffic Regulations to park or stop in a disabled parking bay with no badge.
The offence is subject to a fixed charge penalty notice of €150.
Anyone who may have a query around eligibility for a disabled parking permit can find information from Citizens Information or the Irish Wheelchair Association.
