'Forever missed' - Tributes paid following death of beloved Manorhamilton Livestock Mart manager

Ivan Moffitt passed away suddenly on Sunday, with the farming community in Leitrim and the wider area left in mourning.

Tributes have poured in following news of the passing of the Manorhamilton Mart manager Ivan Moffit.

The Blacklion native died suddenly on Sunday the 3rd of November.

He is survived by his wife Sarah, children Alanna, Harry, Ava and Jack, his brothers Wilfred, Kenneth and Raymond and his sister Mildred.

Ivan was a popular figure in the area, and held his role as manager in the north Leitrim town for a number of years.

In a statement, Manorhamilton Livestock Mart confirmed that they will remain closed until further notice.

“We the Moffitt family deeply regret to inform you of the sudden death of Ivan a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend to all," Manporhamilton Livestock Sales said in a statement online.

“He will be forever missed at Manorhamilton Mart and in the farming community. May he rest in Peace."

Chairperson of the Leitrim branch of the IFA, Liam Gilligan told Ocean FM that Ivan’s passing will be felt by the wider area.

Ivan will repose at Our Lady’s Hospital Chapel, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim on Tuesday (November 5) from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and at his home on Wednesday, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.

The Moffitt family has requested that the house remains private outside of these hours.

The funeral service will take place in Blacklion Methodist Church in Co. Cavan on Thursday, November 7, at 12:00pm, followed by burial afterwards in Thornhill Cemetery.
