Voting has commenced for General Election 2024 with four seats up for grabs in the Sligo-Leitrim-South Donegal constituency.
Polls opened at 7am this morning and will close at 10pm tonight.
It remains too early to predict the outcome, as the latest Red-C Business Post poll shows Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, and Sinn Féin running neck and neck.
The Irish Times will be publishing an exit poll at 10pm this evening, which will give the public an indication of where people’s first preference votes went.
As of about 1pm today, voter turnout is steady in Sligo-Leitrim averaged at 12 to 13 percent.
Manorhamilton and Carrick-on-Shannon are at 13 percent with Ballinamore, Drumshanbo and Sligo Town at 12 percent.
The constituency also includes towns in Donegal such as Bundoran, Ballyshannon and Ballintra, close to the North Leitrim border, which are averaging at 10 percent
