A second power outage at Carrick-on-Shannon Water Treatment Plant has hampered operations and caused disruptions to Uisce Éireann customers in South Leitrim, it has been confirmed.
Uisce Éireann is working with the ESB to restore power at the South Leitrim Water Treatment Plant in Carrick on Shannon and return water supplies to normal levels as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, an alternative water supply is been arranged for tomorrow and locations will be posted on their website at Uisce Éireann
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Uisce Éireann’s Kevin Love assured customers that every effort is being to return a normal water supply to customers across Co Leitrim as quickly as possible.
“Power returned to the Carrick-on-Shannon Water Treatment Plant for a short time earlier today but there has been a second outage which has hampered operations at the plant. Our crews are working with the ESB to return a normal water supply to all our customers across Co Leitrim.”

Power outages have also affected operations at the Moneyduff Water Treatment Plant in north Leitrim. Customers served by this supply zone may also experience disruptions to their supplies as efforts continue to restore power supply to operate our plants, reservoirs and pump Stations.
