The popular Organic Centre in Rossinver is set to host a ‘Green Christmas Fayre’ on Sunday, December 15 from 11am to 5pm.

Visitors can look forward to a vibrant selection of sustainable, locally crafted goods, food stalls and live entertainment.

Sustainable Santa will also be in attendance on the day, from 1pm to 3pm.

This is a free event, with Dervilla Keegan of the Organic Centre emphasising, “We are committed to keeping the event free entry and Santa is also free. This time of the year is extremely expensive for parents and the cost-of-living crisis continues to impact families.”

For live music, Brian Sweeney of the band ‘Free Speaking Monkey’ will perform at 12pm, joined by his music students. Adding to the festive cheer, the renowned Choir of Ages, featured on RTÉ will also perform at 2pm.

There will be natural craft and decoration making workshops for children during the day with Seb and Roisin, alongside seasonal treats from the Grass Roof Cafe and mulled drinks and crepes for sale on the grounds.

The Grinch made a special appearance last week in advance of the Christmas Fayre, and checked out the tunnels for some mischief, but promised the manager Stephen Campbell that he would be on his best behaviour on his return to the fayre!

The Organic Centre promises additional special guests to entertain both younger and older members of the audience.

'We're all trying to find ways to reduce our waste and consumption. Buying locally or things that can act as experiences like a course or gift vouchers helps reduce the creation of waste,” said Dervilla Keegan.

“We are really looking forward to enjoying the buzz of the market, the choirs, and making natural decorations on the day.

“We are so delighted also, to support local and sustainable gifts, welcome our Sustainable Santa and even Mr Grinch when he pops by on December 15,” she added.
