Leitrim Arts Organisations Secure €925,990 in Arts Council Funding

Three arts organisations in Leitrim have been awarded a total of €515,990 as part of the Arts Council’s first round of funding for 2025. This funding is drawn from a national allocation of €68.5 million to support 175 arts organisations, centres, and studios across Ireland.

The Leitrim Sculpture Centre, based in Manorhamilton, has been awarded €350,000 through the Strategic Funding programme. This grant will enable the centre to continue its pivotal role in supporting the visual arts and providing resources for artists.

The Dock, located in Carrick-on-Shannon, has received €156,000 under the Arts Centres funding scheme. This funding will help sustain its operations, ensuring it remains a key cultural hub for the region, offering exhibitions, performances, and community workshops.

Caret (^), an initiative supporting visual artists, has secured €9,990 through the Visual Artists Workspace Scheme. This funding will provide essential workspace and resources for six artists, fostering creativity and development within the county.

The Arts Council’s funding for 2025 reflects its commitment to bolstering the arts across Ireland. Nationally, €57.7 million was allocated under the Strategic Funding programme to organisations making significant regional and national impacts. Additionally, €10 million was awarded to 41 arts centres, while €746,000 was directed to 30 art studios across 15 counties, benefiting over 1,100 visual artists.

Arts Council Chair Maura McGrath noted that these grants will help strengthen the infrastructure of the arts sector, uniting communities through the power of creativity. Director Maureen Kennelly underscored the importance of regional organisations like those in Leitrim in ensuring accessibility to the arts for all.

This significant investment highlights Leitrim’s growing reputation as a vibrant cultural centre, with its arts organisations playing a crucial role in fostering artistic engagement and innovation at both local and national levels.
