Almost 30 support hubs open in Leitrim following Storm Éowyn

Significant number of power outages are being recorded across Leitrim on the ESB PowerCheck site.

In the wake of Storm Éowyn, more community hubs have been established to assist those most affected.

Nearly a week after the storm, thousands of households in Leitrim remain without electricity, with some not expected to have power restored for another week.

Leitrim County Council’s Local Co-ordination group in collaboration with An Garda Síochana, the HSE and the ESB, has set up almost 30 emergency support hubs across the county.

These centres provide services such as phone charging and hot drinks at the following locations: 

Ballinamore Library (9:30am-7pm)

The Junction Ballinamore (10am-1pm in the Hub, 10am-3pm in Stáisiún Óige)

Bo Peep Kids, Drumshanbo (5:30pm-7:30pm)

Drumkeeran Community Centre (6pm-8pm)

Tullaghan Community Centre (11am-1pm)

The Organic Centre (10am-4pm)

Manorhamilton Library (9:30am-7pm)

Carrick Library (9:30pm-7pm)

Dromahair Library (9:30pm-7pm)

St Mary’s GAA (Tues-Fri 1pm-3pm and 5pm-8pm)

Mohill Library (9:30am-7pm)

Drumshanbo Library (9:30am-7pm)

Mohill FRC (9am-5pm)

Fenagh Visitor Centre (10am-5pm)

Additionally, some centres have power but no water:

Carrigallen GAA (10am-5pm)

Ballagh Centre (10am-4pm)

Phone charging is available at:

The Shed Distillery (10am-6pm)

Maguires in Rooskey (7am-10pm)

Leitrim Inn (9am-10pm)

Bee Park (8am-6pm)

Rainbow Ballroom (10am-4pm) 

Áras an Chontae (9:30am-4pm)

Additional services:

Bo Peep Kids in Drumshanbo - Shower and washing machine.

Kinlough Community Centre (10am-5pm) - Phone charging, use of kitchen and toilets.

Drumsna Family Resource Centre (10am-3pm) - Limited phone charging, with priority given to HSE staff.

Bornacoola GAA - Phone charging and hot drinks (Contact Shane Reynolds on 087 975 1993).

Leitrim County Council have also launched a community support helpline for those needing assistance as a result of Storm Éowyn.

The support line is available from 9am to 5pm, and can be reached on 071 965 0471.

The public can also reach out for support by emailing storm@leitrimcoco.ie, and are reminded to contact 999 or 112 in cases of emergency.
