Condolences have been pouring in following the passing of beloved Mohill man, Fergus Geelan, after he tragically lost his life in a farming accident on Tuesday, February 4.

Tributes have flooded in following the passing of Fergus Geelan of Mohill, Leitrim.

Fergus Geelan lost his life in a farming accident on Tuesday, February 4 in Mohill between the hours of 3:30pm and 8pm.

It is understood that he became trapped under a bay of hale and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fergus Geelan previously worked for a number of local companies including Masonite and Bord na Móna.

Mr Geelan is predeceased by his parents Sonny and Nancy.

He will be forever missed by his loving wife Christina, his son Oisin, daughters Clodagh and Leesa as well as extended family and a wide circle of friends.

On the condolences section on RIP.ie, one person wrote: “To Christina and all the Geelan family, I offer my sincere condolences on the sad and untimely death of Fergus. He was a great neighbour, kind and above all a perfect gentleman.”

Another wrote: “So sorry to hear this very sad news, I went to school with Fergus in Mohill, he was always such a polite and nice young man, May he Rest in Peace.”

A third wrote: “He had a great wit and always had his hand out to welcome me whenever I met him in Mohill. He was a gentleman at heart and a good friend during our school days. Rest peacefully Fergus.”

Fergus Geelan will be reposing at Glennon’s funeral home in Longford on Saturday, February 8 from 12pm.

A private ceremony for family and close friends will be held in Lakelands Crematorium in Cavan on Sunday, February 9 at 2pm.
