Ballinamore Musical Society brings high-energy comedy and gospel music to the stage

Feel-good musical Sister Act set to light up The Island Theatre

Excitement is building as Sister Act – The Musical takes to the stage at The Island Theatre, Ballinamore, for a six-night run. The smash-hit production, based on the beloved 1992 film, promises an unforgettable night of laughter, music, and high-energy performances.

Speaking ahead of the show, Ross Dooner, PRO for the Ballinamore Musical Society, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming performances. “This is one of the most fun, uplifting musicals we’ve ever staged. It’s packed with incredible music, hilarious moments, and a heartwarming story that audiences of all ages will love.”

Featuring an electrifying score by Tony and eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Newsies), Sister Act follows the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a glamorous disco diva who is forced into hiding after witnessing a crime. Her unlikely refuge? A convent. Struggling to adapt to her new, quiet surroundings, Deloris soon finds her calling in the convent’s failing choir, using her star power to transform them into a sensational gospel act. But as their fame grows, Deloris’ cover is blown, and trouble isn’t far behind.

Dooner believes the audience will be blown away by the energy of the production. “The music is so infectious—you’ll want to get up and dance in your seat! And the cast has been working incredibly hard to bring this story to life in a way that will make people laugh, cheer, and maybe even shed a tear.”

The show runs on February 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 26th, 28th, and March 1st, with performances starting at 8:00 PM (doors open at 7:00 PM). The Crannog Bar will be open for pre-show and post-show refreshments. Tickets are priced at €18 plus a €2 booking fee, with special discounted tickets for children, students, and over-65s available only for the February 21st performance. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

“If you’re looking for a feel-good night out, this is it,” says Dooner. “We can’t wait to share this incredible production with the community.”

With its infectious energy, dazzling performances, and heartwarming message, Sister Act – The Musical is not to be missed. Book your tickets now and join the celebration at The Island Theatre!
