Disposable incomes in Louth remain below State average
The average disposable income per person in Leitrim rose by nearly €2,000 in 2023, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The average person in Leitrim had more income left after tax, with disposable income in the county reaching €24,881 last year.
Despite this increase, Leitrim’s average fell further behind the national figure, with the gap to the €28,000 national average widening to 12.3%.
Leitrim remains among the counties with the lowest disposable income, ranking seventh from the bottom, just ahead of Donegal and Roscommon.
“The Border region (Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo) and the Midlands consistently remain significantly below the national average for household disposable income and rely heavily on the Public Administration sector for wealth and employment,” the report stated.
Dublin had the highest disposable income in the country at €32,392, followed by Galway at €28,971.
The CSO data also highlighted Dublin as the highest-earning region, with a GDP of €248.3 billion, while the Midlands had the lowest.
