The Carrick-on-Shannon community is mourning the loss of a "genuine lady", Anabella Dawn Jackson/Nolan, following her death on Monday.
Anabella Dawn Jackson/Nolan of Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim passed away peacefully in Arus Carolan nursing home in Mohill on Monday, February 10.
Annabella was born in Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu, India, in 1945, where her father, Col. FC Jackson, was stationed in the Indian medical service. She is predeceased by her father and mother Elizabeth (Betty) Jackson.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Keith Nolan, son Boyce and his partner Rachael O’Malley, grandchildren Rubee, Nathan and Senan, sister Susan Wilkinson (Canada), brother Peter Jackson (UK), brothers-in-law, sisters-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.
Many have paid tribute to Annabella online, sharing their fond memories and admiration for her as well as expressing their sympathies with his family.
One tribute on RIP.ie read: "To my dear friend Keith, Boyce, Rachel, Rubee, Nathan, Senan, the Jackson and Nolan families I offer my deepest sympathy on the passing of dear Annabella. A wonderful person with a heart of gold and massive sense of humour. She will be a huge loss in your lives but the wonderful memories she has left you will carry you through this very difficult time."
A popular member of the Carrick Rowing Club where she was described as "one of their greatest supporters", in a tribute posted to Facebook on Monday evening
"Today the club received the sad news of the passing of one of our greatest supporters and neighbours Anabella Jackson, Rest in Peace.
"Be it our Annual Carrick Regatta, Heads of the River, or an ordinary training spin Anabella was never far away watching out for crews and scullers up and down the river and coming in and out of Boathouse Bay.
"The committee and members express their condolences to Anabellas husband, our longstanding and lifetime member Keith Nolan, her son Boyce, his partner Rachel, Anabellas adored grandchildren Rubee, Nathan and Senan with whom she shared her love of Carrick RC and the river."
Another mourner on RIP.ie said: "Deepest and sincere condolences to Keith, Boyce and extended family on the death of your beloved Annabella. It is a very sad day for Carrick. Our community and society is so much the poorer to ay with the passing of gentle Annabella. May her gracious soul rest in peace."
Anabella’s Cremation service will take place in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan at 2pm on Wednesday, February 12.
