REVEALED: The roads being upgraded across Leitrim in multimillion announcement

Regional and local roads across Leitrim will benefit from funding of almost €14.5 million for maintenance and repair work.

REVEALED: The roads being upgraded across Leitrim in multimillion announcement

A whopping €14,476,650 has been allocated to restoring and improving Leitrim roads from a nationwide fund of €713 million.

The funding for Leitrim roads has been broken into five areas. These are Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Works, Specific Improvement Grants, Bridge Rehabilitation Works on Regional and Local Roads, Safety Improvement Works on Regional and Local Roads and Former National Road Rehabilitation Works.

Funding has also been allocated for Speed Limit Review signs, Community Involvement Scheme and drainage works.

Here is a breakdown of roads across the county that will receive funding for improvements.

Climate Change Adaptation Works (€358,250)

  • €70,000 each for retaining earth bund on L-1589 and L-7321.
  • €120,000 for Lough Rynn footpath on road number L-1053.
  • €20,000 for Milltown Flood Alleviation on road number L-21361.
  • €53,250 for road flooding on road number L-3444.
  • €25,000 for Boleyboy drainage and road works on L-61843-0.

Specific Improvement Grants (€1 million)

  • €300,000 for Hartley Bridge.
  • €270,000 for R289 Kilcoon.
  • €200,000 for R280 Killarga.
  • €200,000 for R280 Erriff realignment.
  • €30,000 for R280 RibGeom.

Bridge Rehabilitation Works on Regional and Local Roads (€570,750)

  • €53,800 for bridge inventory and maintenance inspection. 
  • €26,950 for BRP Retention.
  • €50,000 will go towards Bellantra Bridge.
  • €35,000 for Drumad (Bernie) Bridge.
  • €40,000 each for Beagh/Ardvoley Bridge, Cloonemone Bridge, Derrinweer Bridge, and Cornacloy Bridge.
  • €30,000 each for Dereen Bridge, Stralongford South Bridge, Cornacranaghy Bridge, Curraghnabania Bridge, Coragallion Bridge, and Lisomadaun Bridge.
  • €10,000 each for Tullywana South Bridge and Lisdromacrone Bridge.
  • €45,000 for Corramartin Bridge.

Safety Improvement Works on Regional and Local Roads (€345,000) 

  • €50,000 each for Carrickfad junction, Brackary Beg junction, Rossinver (Junctions of R282, R281 and L-2107-0).
  • €40,000 each for junction of R202 and LS1630 at Keelagh, Moherrevan Td (Junction with an existing derelict building that is obstructing driver sightlines) and Eden Point, Lough Melvin.
  • €25,000 for R202 Fenagh to Edentinny Ballinamore.
  • €20,000 to Aughacaslaun. 
  • €30,000 for Ballinagleara to install gateways along regional road (R207) and advanced signage on local roads (L42962 and L4296).

Former National Road Rehabilitation Works (€200,000)

  • €200,000 for road number L1601.
