RIP: Tributes paid after 86-year-old Leitrim woman dies in Beaumont hospital

Myra English has passed away

Tributes have poured in following the recent passing of 86-year-old Leitrim woman, Myra English.

Myra passed away on 2nd March 2025 and was from Corderay, Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim and Glasnevin, Dublin,

She passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted sons, Michael, David and Dermot in Beaumont Hospital.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Mickey, Myra was the much loved daughter of the late Delia and Harry and cherished mother to Michael, David and Dermot.

Myra will be forever loved and very sadly missed by her sons, her daughters in law Helen, Olive and Naomi, her adored grandchildren Michael, Robert, Aoife, Alexandra, Sophia, James, William, Charley and Liam, her brother Frankie, her sisters in law Ann, Evelyn, Rita and Kathleen, her brother- in- law Gerry, her nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and her wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements:

Reposing at Shivnan’s Funeral Home, Ballyfarnon on Tuesday evening (March 4th) from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Removal to St Patrick’s Church, Drumshanbo arriving 8p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12 noon (March 5th) followed by interment afterwards in Drumshanbo New Cemetery.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Myra, with one mourner writing,

"Sincere condolences to Myra's boys, Michael, David, Dermot & their families, in their loss.
Condolences too to Frankie, Ann & family. Myra was a warm and loving cousin. I have many wonderful memories, and recall special times when she sang “A Mother's Love's a Blessing”. Myra had a lovely voice. May she rest in peace".

"My deepest sympathy to Michael, David, Dermot and extended families on the sad passing of Myra. Always a lovely friendly lady. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. May Myra rest in peace."

Another message said, "Deepest sympathy to Michael, David, Dermot and the extended English and Finlay families on the death of Myra, an absolutely lovely, friendly lady always. May her gentle soul rest in peace".
