A public consultation on the Dromahair Flood Defence works is underway from March 10 until Friday, April 25.
Leitrim County Council is seeking approval from An Bord Pleanála for a Flood Relief Scheme in three townlands in Dromahair.
These are Killananima, Ardakip More and Corcusconny.
The proposed development includes the construction of earthen flood defence embankments at two residential properties and concrete flood defence walls along the boundary of The Clubhouse Bar and Riverbank Restaurant, the Mill Master House Accommodation and The Mill Apartments, replacing the existing boundary wall.
Significant sections of the existing boundary wall, which are original structures from the railway complex, are proposed to be demolished, with the stone reused to face the southern side of the new flood defence walls.
The project also includes surface water drainage at all sites, replanting of earthen embankments with grass seed, installation of post and wire fencing around earthen embankments and other site development and accommodation works.
A Natura Impact Statement has been prepared and submitted to An Bord Pleanála for approval.
Plans for the proposed development can be viewed or purchased during opening hours until Friday, April 25 at the Planning Office in Áras an Chontae, Carrick-on-Shannon, or at the Offices of An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin.
The public has until Friday, April 25, no later than 5:30pm, to submit written submissions or observations to An Bord Pleanála regarding the impact of the proposed development or the project’s potential impacts on the environment.
