The bridge at Sranea in Glencar will be forwarded for inclusion in bridge rehabilitation works next year according to Leitrim County Council.

Cllr James Gilmartin asked that Manorhamilton Municipal District carry out an immediate inspection and structural assessment of the bridge, citing its poor condition and safety concerns.

“This route is a key access road to the popular tourist destination, Glencar Waterfall and with the busy tourist season now underway, the volume of traffic - including visitors unfamiliar with the area - has increased significantly,” Cllr Gilmartin’s motion stated.

“The deteriorating condition of the bridge poses a serious risk to both local residents and tourists, and prompt action is essential to ensure the safety of all road users,” his motion concluded.
